[Case] Can delayed oocyte retrieval improve blastocyst euploidy? A 36-year-old IVF cycle review

Ms. S, 36, pursued IVF after two egg retrievals in her home country totaling 12 eggs with no transferable embryos. In April 2026 she began third-generation IVF at Dan Ruo IVF Clinic (DRC); a conventional retrieval yielded 6 biopsy-eligible blastocysts, but none passed PGT (third-generation IVF screening). After switching to delayed oocyte retrieval (42 hours after trigger), 2 of 4 blastocysts were transferable; a single transfer was followed by β-hCG 103.90 mIU/mL. Delayed retrieval is not routine at this center and depends on clinical judgment. This is a single case report and does not prove that delayed retrieval improves blastocyst euploidy rates.

[Case] IVF at 42 with low AMH: advanced maternal age third-generation IVF — one

When trying to conceive at 42 with advanced maternal age IVF, AMH 0.89 (often called low AMH) is not uncommon. In this case, two overseas IVF egg retrievals both failed screening (aneuploidy / no transferable embryos). After switching to Dan Ruo IVF Clinic in Bangkok, Thailand, a single egg retrieval with third-generation IVF (PGT) yielded a euploid blastocyst, and one transfer led to a successful pregnancy. For women of advanced maternal age, what matters more than persisting blindly is breaking through with a strong laboratory and a personalized protocol.

How Should Women Over 43 Plan for Pregnancy?

For later-age fertility care, the real race is against time: retrieve eggs as soon as it is reasonable, instead of spending months on “egg nourishing.” If you are over 43 and trying to conceive—especially if IVF is on the table—use the remaining window, don’t burn it on a long preparatory regimen. Get AMH, antral follicle count, and sex-hormone tests promptly. When those baselines are adequate, assisted reproduction can start. If ovarian reserve and AMH are already low, the priority is retrieval and usable embryos; transfer can wait (freeze first, then timed frozen-embryo transfer).

What should you do after embryo transfer? Do you need bed rest?

After embryo transfer, the most important thing is to stay as relaxed as possible—you do not need long-term bed rest. Keep normal meals, sleep, and walks; routine work and light housework are usually fine. Avoid heavy lifting and intense or high-risk physical activity, and try not to get pulled into anxiety from online content.
